We had our first BBQ of the year today. It was such a beautiful weekend, that it did not make sense to cook or eat inside.

Easter weekend was wet and cool, this weekend there was not a cloud in the sky, it was beautifully warm, we let the kitten outside on her own and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. All the neighbours mowed their lawns, so the smell of fresh grass was in the air.

We worked on our plans to replace our deck. We will be making it bigger and covering it. It faces southwest and is horribly hot, even today it was about 28'C out there and it is only April! We are also planning a patio under the trees where it is cooler. That is where we had out BBQ today as the deck was too hot.

A no not a stitch of sewing got done, not the curtains or pants hems. Oh well I enjoed what I got done outside.

Sounds fun. I haven't had a cookout yet, but I'm planning on having one soon. I would like to get a karaoke guy out here and set up on the deck. Karaoke is so much fun in that you never know what to expect. Unfortunately it rained here this past weekend, so I wasn't able to do anything outside. I was disappointed because I really need to mow our grass. We live in the woods (small patch of woods) and I have to keep the grass really low because of ticks and snakes. The ticks are a great concern since my daughter got lyme disease last year.

Michelle, your BBQ sounds wonderful!

Pyrose, how is your daughter doing now?

After church we took the dog and went to the park. There wasn't a cloud in the sky and it was such a beautiful day. I was able to walk and walk; it just felt delicious. The park was full of kids playing, people playing softball and frisbee, running, biking etc. Our dog had a ball getting acquainted with the other dogs. It was just like when DH and I were dating, very romantic.

We came home and played with the neighbor's new puppy. Sometimes it's just the little things in life that can leave you so contented.

My daughter is doing great now. Thanks for asking. I never fully realized how serious lyme disease was until my daughter got it. And just as a warning to people: tests for lyme disease will turn up negative if there's not enough bacteria to show up positive. Testing for lyme disease is tricky evidently. My daughter's first test was negative. But she kept getting worse and worse and was in so much pain. I feel like crying just remembering. I took her back and they treated her right away going by the symptoms. They did a second test anyway and that one turned up positive.

I'm glad she's ok now. I never felt I had a really good understanding of Lyme disease. Thankfully her doctors caught it.

I do love BBQs. but I though I would pass along this observation my sister emailed to me this morning.

Barbecue Season Is Coming!

After the long months of cold and winter, we will soon be coming up to
summer and BBQ season. Therefore it is important to refresh your
memory on the etiquette of this sublime outdoor cooking as it's the
only type of cooking a real man will do, probably because there is
an element of danger involved.

When a man volunteers to do the BBQ the following chain of events are put
into motion:

Routine...

1) The woman buys the food.
2) The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes dessert.
3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with
the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man who is
lounging beside the grill - beer in hand.

Here comes the important part:

4) THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL.

More routine....

5) The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery.
6) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is burning. He
thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while he deals with the
situation.

Important again:

7) THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN.
More routine.....

8) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins,
sauces and brings them to the table.
9) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes.

And most important of all:

10) Everyone PRAISES the MAN and THANKS HIM for his cooking efforts.
11) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed "her night off." And, upon seeing
her annoyed reaction, concludes that there's just no pleasing some women
