Has anyone purchased the DVD's by Jean Haas and made the Dress Forms? I read the reviews for the upcoming class, but have not really heard from anyone who has used the dress form for awhile. She has testimonials on her website, but of course, you'd only put positive ones on your own website.

Are they accurate? Durable? I assume I'd need DVD's 1 and 2 as well as the CD on how to cover your form. I know a class is starting, but don't have the time to commit since I'm occupied with my DD's wedding in July.

My daughter is moving to Ohio, (500 miles away) and I thought this would be a great way to continue to sew for her as well as make one for myself.

I took her online class the last time she had it to make the dress form and the pants form. I have not made the pants form yet. But I printed everything up and saved it. Jean has said that we can contact her anytime if we have questions. She is a wonderful instructor and always answered my questions quickly. I swamped her with questions and she was always patient with me.

The dress form I made has held up well. I haven't used it as much as I like but that is due to my lack of time with 2 small kids, full time job, and my husband is currently working out of the country for a month or so. It was fun making it and my husband actually had more fun than I thought he would. It did take a lot longer to tape me than we thought but that was due to the fact that he refused to look at any of the material ahead of time. There is also alot of time involved after the taping. You have to stuff and mount the thing. This took me a week to do working in my free time. But I do feel making it was worth my time. The beauty of it, if I ever need a new form due to weight changes or if I want to make one for my DD later I have the knowledge and the power to do it. I don't have the cover made for mine and keep hoping Jean teaches that class too. But I might just buy the dvd for that one when I get ready to make the cover. The one thing that is cool about it is some of the things which is difficult for you to measure on yourself (like back waist length) you can go measure your dummy instead. Pretty cool! I did use her recently to make a skirt. Well I discovered that I have a tilted waist and using that dress form was a godsend for that alteration. I just slipped the skirt on her and put some elastic around her waist. Then I kept adjusting the skirt at the waistline until the hem was the perfect distance from the floor. I was pleasantly surprised when it appeared even on my own body. So it definitely a useful tool.

Thanks so much for the information. I had read about several people who enjoyed the class, but not one from someone who had used the form. I would love to take the class, but my daugher is getting married in July. I think I'll buy the DVD's and CD's instead. My DD has agreed to tape me and I her before she leaves in July. I think this will be very helpful.

I like how J. Haas makes a cover, then marks it so that adjustments are easy to make. I think this will be one of those things I learn I can't live without! Kind of like the microwave 25 years ago. (OOPS! I'm giving away my age!)
