I purchased some of this rayon lining fabric recently. I can't find it locally, so I purchased it online. Several sites carry it.

This fabric is wonderful! It feels so soft and silky. I washed it gently in cold water and planned to just tumble it slightly dry, but it dried very quickly. It came out of the dryer wrinkled, but it ironed beautifully with a cool dry iron. It shrunk about 1" per yard.

I'm using it for a jacket lining. I hope it's not too difficult to sew with. If anyone has any tips or hints or suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

I haven't sewn with Ambiance yet. But I recently bought two 25 yard bolts of it (in royal blue and teal) on ebay for $1.67 a yard including shipping.

I understand you need to use a "microtex sharp" needle when sewing lining fabrics. I have packs in both the 70 and 80 sizes.

Have you received it yet? If so, what do you think of it? That's a lot of lining!

Linscee,

Yes, it certainly is a lot of lining -- enough for thirty jackets. I'll never run out. Bemberg can run $8 or $9 per yard not including shipping. So when I saw the bargain price on ebay, I had to snap them up.

To answer your question, I received the royal blue (it's the good stuff, the real thing) and will get the teal any day now. I love both these colors and plan to use one or the other for everything I sew that needs a lining.

Now that I'm set for lining, I'd love to snag a couple of bolts of high quality interfacing at a bargain price. But so far I haven't had any luck. The good stuff costs at least $6 per yard plus shipping for the 60" width.

Nancy,

You might try checking out Fabricclub.com. From time to time they have several yards of different types of interfacing at a riduculously low price. It is a "buy the piece" deal.

(I'm referring to your last sentence - I haven't figured out the Quote thing yet )

Bemberg is lovely fabric. It has a bit more weight than cheaper rayons and either a microtex or a universal will work Cut with a new rotary blade if using a rotary cutter. If I am using it in a dry clean only jacket I don't bother to prewash it.

It makes great pants liners. Just wash some of the Ambiance and sew up a pair of short (above the ankle) pull-on pants to wear under your unlined pants. Ambiance feels great against the skin, and a liner makes pants look more expensive. You won't have to wash or dry-clean the pants as often, either, since the liner prevents them from picking up body oils, etc.
