I was responding to a friend on another board and she made me realize how much thread I had aquired. Almost 1,000 spools. Now that does inlcude several sets of embroidery thread but still. I just became the happy owner of a Maderia thread box. That's wonderful. I was wondering if there were any other thread stashers on the board. I have a modest fabric stash. But my thread is out of control. My fav's are Maderia, Sulky and Mettler. I am in trouble though Joann's if have a 50% off thread this weekend.

I don't have an embroidery machine but I do have one hundred decorative stitches on my new Viking sewing machine. I have about 50 spools of regularMetrosene, about 10 nonembroidery specialty threads, and two spools of Sulky 40 wt rayon, one black and one white.
The idea of having 1,000 spools of thread is absolutely mind boggling. But then thread isn't really my thing -- notions are.

How many notions do I have, Sewwolf? I've never counted, but this is what I acquired just in the past month: Clover 2" Bias Tape Maker (I now have the full set), Clover White Fine Tip Marker (great for marking dark fabrics, Easy Cut Thread Cutter (small blade attaches to sewing machine as extra thread cutter), Elastic Wizard Set (I had hoped this would be more useful than it's turned out to be), Sew Steady Portable Extension Table (18" by 24"), Bobbin Bay, Presser Foot Box, Needle Grabbit (sewing machine needle organizer), Sulky Self Adhesive Tear Away Stabilizer, Pattern Making Paper, over a dozen generic presser feet, and half a dozen specialty packs of needles (triple, leather, extra wide twin). And that's not including ordinary notions like zippers, thread, and trim.

Sewwolf, is it possible to have too many ? I thought it was like saying you can never be too rich or too thin. That's the theory I'm going with! I've still got room for more.

SEWWOLF: Didn't you used to post on SW???
Droool---I have some gorgeous wolf designs that I put on a fleece blanket this Christmas for a present.
Thread---my downfall is deffinitely when Joanne's has a sale on thread---I am there. I am just adding room for 25 more large spools on the wall above my #1 machine and computer. I also have the Madera thread chest. Isn't thread like paint?? I can't create what I want if I don't have what I need.
Designs---the stash is HUGE! I don't even download too much free anymore because I have so many.
I am in the stash reduction contest, which I think reducing my fabric find collection is a great idea----not anything in my embroidery stash---I use it all!!!

Yes I did and if I remember right we both live in Parkville only in different states lol. I think back then we were just getting into embroidery. I do miss SW. A lot of people went to sitchers guild but I'm liked SW better. I was good this weekend didn't bring home any thread just fabric lol. Going to do a wildlife quilt with wolves and bears with embroidery, still putting it all together. Got some lovely bear material. I also wanted a wolf print but when I got home nothing I had was suitable so on the search for that.

OMG! I remember that now! Parkville in two different states!
I saw Baxter's Mom briefly at Artisans square. I wonder what ever happened to Dancing with threads?? I actually think of her often as I seemingly attacked by emb threads---you know they have a life of their own! She was a huge Janome fan and had all those different feet which has inspired me to try all kinds of different feet on my machines.
I still write Carolyn from England. She had a baby girl that is darling.
Sorry all for diverging from the topic and making this old home week.
I remember when we were just starting out in embroidery. I hope that encourages new people who read this. So many people get machines and they are intimidated, so they put them in the closet. You see them on Ebay sometimes. Get those machines cookin designs---get what ever digitizer you can---its fun---its addictive, and if I can become good at it---sew can you!!
Go to my gallery and look at my baby quilts. Remember, both of my daughters were pregnant? I have been making baby quilts ever since.
Well, it is a small web after all!!!
What is the dot com for the stitchers guild???
