I like my machines, which are Brother (computerized) and PFAFF (very basic model with 4 step buttonhole) but none of them makes really professional looking buttonholes. The Brother makes a good basic buttonhole but not a very good keyhole or round-ended buttonhole.
Do you know of any machine that consistently makes really professional looking keyhole and round ended buttonholes?

My computerized Kenmore makes beautiful one step buttonholes that look very professional. I think it has something like 7 different types plus eyelet. I do use the Pfaff linen buttonhole the most because I don't care for the large foot needed for one step BH's. I find it is harder to place the large foot properly on the fabric and get it exactly where I want it. My Viking Interlude makes a nice buttonhole also and is very easy to place and is much different from either of my other machines but I really haven't used the buttonhole on it much as yet and cannot comment. I rarely make buttonholes now because I use so much Velcro sewing for the DGK's.

I have 5 sewing machines including one quite new Brother. I'm still quite new to it, but so far am very impressed with its ability to make lovely buttonholes. One of these days after I figure it out more completely, I'll write a review, but for now, I think you get a big bang for your buck with the NV 1200. It seems to do many things more expensive machines do for a very affordable price. It is also an embroidery machine. I have yet to embroider on it--that lesson is this week or next, but I have to say the keyhole buttonhole is exquisite and very easy and the best of any I've ever made on any other machine.

I have a Kenmore 19606- thae buttonholes are lovely- all of them, inc. the keyhole.
I have used a few older (1970ish) Kenmores with BH attachments that made some lovely buttonholes.
The Singer Professional buttonhole attachment works great with the older Singers (pre-1963-ish) and comes in a version for slant and low shank. It also comes with about 20 or templates, including a couple of keyhole shapes.
