my friend took a photo of this fabric at hancocks and I want to get it to make a skirt, my ideal skirt for this would be a little below the knee, very full, what pattern do you think will acheive this look?

I bought some of that about 5 years ago and made a great pair of (what I call) Island pants to go over swimsuits. I used a this Burda pattern - you know, the kind that wrap double around the body. They are the most wonderful things to wear around the pool.

Go with a very full skirt - any pattern that gathers or has cartridge pleats will do.

How much fabric (a range at least) are you thinking of buying? I think that, as much as anything else, could be a limitation on the fullness of the skirt and help narrow down your pattern choices. If amount of fabric used is less of a concern, I know a couple of simple circle skirt pattern making processes...they waste fabric but are very easy to do on your own :)
