What is everyone working on these days?

I am making some Mother's Day gifts (9 patch pillows) using the Hummel designs I purchased last fall at the Sewing Expo. But I am already thinking about what I will do next.

I need some inspiration!

Welllll...since you asked.....

Today I finished a pretty cool project that was really fun. I have a darling niece that drew a picture for me on my last visit with her. I thought it was charming so I kept it. About a month ago I got out the pic and scanned it into my Artista software and I turned the image into a stitch picture and stitched it out on my Hoop It All square. I then added some freeform strips and tacked them around the picture and added simple stitches in varigated thread. I then made this square into quilt-pillow that she can untuck and use for cuddling or fold up and use as a pillow. It was the most fun project I have done in quite some time. I just got the pics taken and will try to post one soon.

I am now working on 2 graduation throws for upcoming graduates using an idea I have had in my head for some time. Since there is no pattern, I am kind of winging it, which is a lot of fun.

I think what I like about the current projects is that, while they are not original they are inspired. That has made the process as much fun as having the end product.

Why not try an embroidery collage? Make it as a wall hanging or frame it as a picture.

Choose your favorite compatible designs, then prepare a fitting background; sky, ground, mountains, garden etc..

Print out the chosen designs and trim away the extra paper. Place them on the background fabric. When satisfied with the placement, mark the center of each design with a + (cross-hair) so you can adjust the Emb Machine for center. I used a "disappearing ink" pen, but a paper dot would do.

Use sticky back stabilizer. If you need to move the fabric for additional designs, cut the stabilizer that has been stitched -- it will leave a jagged frame in the hoop. Patch the opening in the stabilizer with more sticky back and continue stitching.

I recently did a small collage, about 12 x 14 using farm themed designs with good results. A fall scene with autumn leaves, scarecrow, pumpkins also turned out well. I am thinking about doing flowers, picket fence, window boxes, wheelbarrow, pots etc.

Once you start, more ideas will come - happy stitching!

I saw a woman with some linen crop pants on the other day - there was embroidery (medallions?) all around the bottom edge. Looked very classy!

I stole my last embroidery project idea from an issue of Creative Machine Embroidery, embroidered easter eggs. I had an urge to do something crafty...this was just in time for the holiday. The all-over designs were embroidered on translucent art paper and then glued to white painted paper mache eggs, using wash away tear away stabilizer on the back. Eggs

My next project is to embroider a name on a fleece blanky for a friend.

I am putting together baby quilt #2 in the past 2 weeks for dd's teachers at school.
I embroidered 4 large blocks with cute designs and lettering and then sashed them and made them into a crib size quilt.
Pic of quilt #2 for baby girl (starlight, starbright theme):
