I'm seeing bad weather on TV (Moderated by Deepika, EleanorSews)
Posted on: 5/5/07 10:59 PM ET
I'm watching TV and see that Greensburg is no more. I've probably driven through it dozens and dozens of times over the years. We used to live in Garden City and also around Wichita. Since we had family at both ends, there were lots of trips between the two. The devastation is terrible.

I was wondering the same thing. Hope everyone is okay. The pics are horrifying. I think OP Gal lives in Kansas, and she immediately came to mind when I heard the news.
I think Ok. had some very strong tornadoes today, too, but no injuries as far as I know. I seem to remember hearing S.D. was having severe weather, too.

I also thought about the Kansas members - hope everyone is okay. It seems we have really had strong spring storms around the country this year.

I'm fine, just a little water logged. It's raining off and on like crazy. There's a small creek tributary behind my house which is out of it's banks and there are flash flood warnings here. I'm sure all the PR members in the K.C. area are fine, too. There have been severe storm warnings and maybe a tornado watch or two in the area, but when you live in this part of the country, you kinda tune that stuff out.
It's nice to read that you all were thinking of us.
Thanks, ccris, for your concern about me. It was very heartwarming to know that I came to mind.
Stacy Sews lives in Wichita which is about 100 miles east of where all the damage was. I hope she and here family are okay. Stacy, are you there?

If I sewed any slower, I wouldn't be sewing at all.

Oh, thank goodness you're okay. Thanks for checking in and letting us know. Now, we await news from StacySews. Hope she's okay, as well.

Stacy posted a review last night, so she must be okay, thank goodness.

I'm OK. We have had some local flooding. An entire small town, Ogden. was evacuated yesterday. An apartment building in Manhattan had water waist deep in it. A coworker who lives there went home yesterday to find her belongings under water. The creek on my son's acreage went out of the banks and carried the deck into a tree across the road. It has caused lots of attention by people driving by and noticing a deck in a tree.
Tornadoes usually only hit one spot and, unfortunately, the one that hit Greensburg was very wide and hit the straight on.
I try not to complain about rain because we always get so dry by summer, but this needs to stop and return over the next few months.

I haven't heard from Rosie (Who Used to be Rose) in a few days and was a bit concerned. Anyone heard from her?
Anyone on PR affected by the Tornados? How can we all be supportive, if so?

I didn't see this thread and posted another in the Regional Communities area. Has anyone heard from Rosie (Who Used to Be Rose)? I'd been hearing from her frequently but haven't for the last few days. I'm not sure what town she lives in.

I think Rosie is in Wichita where there weren't major problems.
