I have no clue how to hem this very silky poly fabric? It won't even serge as it slips too much (I tried to serge the edge without success). It Is a very simple bias cut skirt with a slight flare B4522 view d. I appreciate any suggestions.

I like to make a narrow hem with those thin silky fabrics. What I do is: 1) stitch about 1/8-1/4" below where you want the hem to end up. 2) press your hem up so the stitching is "just" inside the hem allowance. Poly makes this harder because it doesn't like to crease but will work. 3) Very carefully trim very close to the stitching line about 1/8" or so. 4) turn up hem again about 1/8-1/4" press and stitch right on the bottom edge. 5) turn up one more time and stitch. This makes a very fine narrow hem and all the rows of stitching seem to stabilize the hem and help it fall beautifully. Good Luck with your project

I use wash-away wonder tape on silky fabrics a lot - you can use it to secure the hem before stitching and it'll stay in place.

I have a rolled hem foot that works nicely for wovens ....but this stuff slips terribly. Thanks for both methods. I will practice them both and see what I come up with.

I would suggest trying a french seam and /or using tissue paper underneath the fabric as you run it through the machine. Then tear the paper away.

OK, if it's poly, then it will wash, but try this on a scrap first.

Spray the sucker with starch, let dry completely and it will not slip and slide.
