Hidden under the flaps on the back of these shorts?

Bensoni shorts

Or do you think they might just be fake pockets (she said hopefully)? I can't see the outline of any pockets on her tush, and the shorts are pretty snug.

I can make out an outline on the left tush... sorry
My guess is it's a slashed pocket with a flap. But if you don't need them, why bother with the extra work- it's not like anything will fit in there anyway!

I was afraid someone was going to say that. I would unfortunately feel like a lazy bum if I left them off if they're there on the originals. Plus, it's my entry for the RTW Knockoff contest, so...

Off to search the 'net to find how how to make those $#%* pockets!

I don't know, the more I look at that picture, the less convinced I am that that's a pocket line. I think it curves the wrong way. Plus, those shorts are snug, I don't see why a pocket wouldn't be clearly outlined.

Anyone else have thoughts?

I think I can see the pocket outlines. They're square. The pocket opening underneath could be anything - probably a welt pocket.

If it were me, I'd just put on the flaps. But I've never won a PR contest.

I'm with you Irene - I was also going to suggest just crating the flaps and forgetting about the pockets. You get the same look.

Irene and Mary, thanks for your input. Irene, when you say "They could be anything," what are the other possibilities?

Sorry I'm so clueless!

No need to go far. See the welt pocket tutorial on fashion-incubator. For your mod, add the pocket flaps.

Thanks for the link, Kathleen, but I think I need something with lots and lots of photos and diagrams. I can't picture this at all. If anyone else has any suggestions, please speak right up!

Amen, Kathleen. After reading your welt pocket tutorial, I adapted to your method down to the last detail and ditched the former method(s) I'd been using for decades. Your method is precise, professional, stress-free, and failproof.
