This is a beginner question to all you more experienced sewers.

I have great difficulty with the machine blindstitch. Is this just a question of practice, practice, practice? I'm always taking either too big or too small a bite (or missing the outer fabric entirely.) I'm sewing a "linen-look" tee shirt right now--actually a very nice fabric with medium weight and good drape. I don't want to wreck the whole thing with a sloppy hem. What to do? Hem by hand, topstitch, or take my chances?

I found that I got much better results by changing the needle tension - fiddle around with this on some samples and see if you can find some improvement.

Liz, I've found it to be just that-- Practice, practice, practice. And holding your mouth just right. And even then, if I sneeze or look up, mine gets off-kilter.

My Viking has an available adjustable blind hem foot that sure would mske this easier! Seems like I had one supplied with my older machine, but don't have it now. It's $15.95 on ebay. You might check around for one for your machine.
