Does anyone have a good method for making a waistband with elastic only in the back? Pendleton wool slacks have a beautiful waistband which does not look stretchy, but actually gives an inch or so. I would love any ideas to duplicate this look. I'm giving some thought to deconstructing to see how its done.

Thanks,

I have a pair of slacks that use 1 1/2 inch eslastic instead of interfacing at the waist. They still have a fly front, but the elastic gives a bit of give to the waist, with no gathers. These slacks have a faced waist and the elastic is sandwiched between, attached at the bottom of the facing.

Maybe you would like Debbie Cook's full elastic waistband, which looks like a no-elastic waistband when you wear it. Or you could just add elastic to the back half, but I find it easier just to run it all the way around.

Irene,

Thanks for the suggestion. It looks like Debbie's method will accomplish my objective and is fairly easy too. I really appreciate the response and the link.
