We did it! Its done! We move in next weekend! OMG! We have bought a new house ( old really but new to us!) and it has a self contained granny flat at the back..........literally 5 steps from the house and its alllll mine! Not the furniture! These are pics from the real estate site!

main part of the flat!

the bedroom area!

To go in the main/kitchen/dining area I have a full size horn cutting table plus a full size cardboard one, 2 x 6' plastic trestles for the machines.......an office chair........a kettle and coffee! oh and a fridge! and the ironing board!
I was thinking I need like a design wall ( cant tape stuff to the walls any more)

and use the bedroom like a change/ fitting room? There is a seperate laundry with a shower that I can use for ??? Behind the mirrored wardrobe opposite the toilet is more storage.. OMG I have died and gone to heaven!
In the pic there are beds under a window but i think i want a daybed there? I have my mums sewing table and 2 antique chairs I was going to put in there as well with vintage mirror over the table! maybe a lamp?

I am thinking a shabby chic country cottage look?
There are those vertical blinds on the windows except the kitchen one and the walls are boring beige that matches the carpet. Eventually i will paint the kitchen cupboards but think the green may be nice to keep?
I am open to suggestions!

cheers
Jan

Wow! I am seriously in envy! You can spread out to your heart's content and never a complaint from the rest of the family! I think decorating ideas will come to you as you work- have a ball! I have been collecting antique fashion illustrations for the remote possibility that DS will move out and free his larger bedroom for my sewing room for ages. ;>)

You might find this site useful. Also this older thread.

Totally jealous of your dedicated space!

Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary. - Steve Jobs

Lucky you! What a great space you have to do your crafting. Be sure to post pics when you're all settled in--I'd love to see it.

I am so envious! That is going to be sooooooo awesome! You can hang your interfacing in the shower area when it's drying after you have washed it. I like the idea of a cottage type theme with shabby chic.

Have a glorious time. You'll probably never visit once it is done. Are you beginning a business venture or already have a sewing business? Or is it just for your hobbies?

I'm so excited for you and I don't even know you! But I understand the love for sewing we all share.

Wow! Congratulations, you lucky woman. Having a whole living area to turn into a sewing studio--heaven!

I just have a bedroom as a dedicated sewing room. When we moved in, I decided that in addition to the usual utilitarian sewing paraphernalia, I wanted something to give the room a little spark. So, I purchased on eBay three vintage sewing-related magazine ads and framed them. One shows a 50's bride on a staircase looking glamorous with the copy raving about the virtues of...acetate! Another shows a stylized woman draped in fabric advertising "Rayon, the fabric of the future!" They serve no purpose other than to give me a chuckle or two and add a little fun to an otherwise utilitarian room. I think the article cited above does a an excellent job of describing how to set up a sewing space. I'd only suggest injecting a little whimsy and fun into it.

If I sewed any slower, I wouldn't be sewing at all.
