New Sewing Room Funiture (Moderated by Deepika, EleanorSews)
Posted on: 8/3/08 9:55 PM ET
Hi folks. I haven't been around much for the last 6 months because I've been working on my sewing room. I am happy to say that it is now finished. If you want to see it, go to my blog:

Sorry for the shameless self-promotion, but I'm really excited about it.

Well I am a little envious too.....but I am sure you did not post this to bring out our envy. Thank you for sharing this! I love to hear of other's successes and you really do owe it to yourself to "give yourself a pat on the back".
The gift wrap dispenser is way cool!

Your sewing studio is an enviable haven. The gift wrap dispenser was a stroke of genuis. I really need to see what other's are working with so maybe it will jump start me into putting my space together functionally. Thanks!

All your work paid off......................it's an awesome sewing space. I agree with whoever said that the wrapping paper dispenser turned tracing paper dispenser was ingenious. The peach and white is so clean looking and I really, really, really like your ceiling lighting. If you get a chance, explain how you did that. You're giving me ideas.

wow great job, I would love to know how you built your own table (what did you use) I would love to do something like that in my sewing room. I am limited space so the more it could do the better.

LUUUUCKY!!!
Actually, I guess I should say TALENTED!!! Good job on the sewing room. I too would like to know how you made the furniture. It would be nice if we could have a thread on how to use ordinary furniture and materials to make our own sewing furniture/sewing room accessories.
Maybe Deepika could coax some of the sewing machine/sewing furniture manufacturers into doing an actual "Pimp My Sewing Room" show--like "Pimp My Ride"!

Thanks for all the nice comments!
As for the lights: they are Techlighting monorail. This was they major splurge. They were also kind of hard to instal. See my problem.
My tables were made from plywood and using small strips of wood as support. Try looking at this post.
It's SOOOO not proper joinery techniques, but it works.
Oh, and just so you know, I don't think I really saved any money (and that doesn't include my time), but I did get a custom job that fits my space perfectly.

Nice. I love the roll dispenser for the tracing paper.

With a great wardrobe that's still in the flat-fabric stage.
