Does this look too difficult? (Moderated by EleanorSews)

I'm itching to make my first jacket/blazer and I love military style jackets. I love this from Burdastyle Hikaru
I've looked at simpler jackets but wonder if I make them will I really wear it. This one looks kind of "fake" difficult I guess meaning there are no buttonholes, just a zipper. The princess seams look like it will allow me to do an easier FBA...
Thoughts? I wasn't sure where to post this, here or in Patterns. Also, could I make this in denim? I also have some heavier twill, both of which were very cheap.

Have you looked over the instructions? I made a few Burdastyle items and the instructions can sometimes be utterly frustrating. I think if you take a look at all Burdastyle reviews, they tend to echo that the instructions aren't the most clear.

Yes, I actually did look at them but for me until I'm actually sewing it will determine whether it makes sense or not. I've made some of their other stuff too. Their Janina pants are my favorite.
I was veering towards this one because their fit is so much better for me personally than the Big 4. I also have a BWOF subscription but figured their instructions would be worse...

Seconded on the fit! You should go for it then! Denim isn't too far from twill & it would look cute in either!

The shoulder tabs have a buttonhole but that could probably be eliminated and the button sewn through the tab and the shoulder.
I wouldn't use a heavy twill but a denim with some flexibility should work. FYI denim is a particular kind of twill with different color yarn in each direction. Much of the fabric sold as twill is the same kind of twill using the same color of yarn in both directions.
I would go for it.

Hi! Maybe tackle the muslin first and see... Looks quite "Intermediate" to my "Advanced Beginner" eyes. (I wouldn't call you "Beginner", yourself--but, that's a personal call, eh
)
Good luck with your project!

You'll never know if you don't try, or in other words, repeat after Mother "Nothing is difficult, some things just take longer"
I would go for it.

I don't know what I am...I think I may take that label out.
Thanks...I think I may just go for it with some of my red tag fabric as a muslin.

Keep in mind, anything you sew is made one seam at a time with maybe a dart or whatever beforehand. Stitch a seam, press, stich again, trim, etc. whatever the directions (or a supllemental tutorial or book) tells you is next. It seams to me that you will be able to handle this. Good luck!

I agree, Kimmysue, based on what you've made up previously, I don't see this jacket giving you too much trouble (not that I've made it). If you go slowly, I think you'll be fine. :)
