I received a 50% coupon in my e-mail from Joanns for any regular priced merchandise online purchase. I wanted some lining, so I ordered 10 yards. They took the 50% off 1 yard and charged full price for the remaining 9 yards. Is that right? I did not go through with the order. What's the point of getting 1/2 one yard? Has anyone else had this occur?

That is not the way it is done in the brick & mortar JoAnn's. Each piece of fabrics regardless of quantity of yards is considered to be one item and they reduce the total price by whatever the coupon percentage is.

The JoAnn's site has a lot of contact info and buried in there is the following:

To place an order with our Customer Care department, call customer care Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, Saturday 9:00 am to 6:00 pm EST at 1-888-739-4120.

I would call and ask them ~ it is a toll free call.

I'm glad somebody gets those newsletters and coupons. I have signed up many, many times. They always acknowledged receipt of my "membership" but never, never, ever sent me a newsletter or a coupon. I finally gave up. And, I too agree that the computer calculator for your order got it wrong. The 50% off should have been for the entire amount of yardage.

I got that coupon in email, too. However, when I checked at the Joann's site everything I wanted was already on sale and I couldn't use the coupon. I hate that. There wasn't much that wasn't on sale even if the sale was just $2 or $3 off.

I contacted Joanns' and they helped me process my order correctly. The web site continued to apply the discount to only 1 yard. Mary, you might want to try the coupon on some of the sale stuff. I had originally chosen a fabric on sale, and it took the 50% off! (but again, only 1 yard)

Actually, I did try that - they do take 50% off the regular price - not the sale price. Thanks for the info.

Give them a call. Tell them you've signed up numerous times but never get the online flyer with coupons.

Oh, I've done that too. Didn't do a bit of good. It really doesn't matter anymore because you simply can't use a coupon on fabric since they put nearly everything "on sale." Yesterday I used my 40% off coupon from my mailer on a Fons and Porter "Love of Quilting" magazine. I've also used them on Threads. And on zippers and thread, etc. but never on fabric once they changed their policy.

I've gotten so fed up with JoAnns. We have a JoAnns and a Hancocks right across the street from each other(not 4 miles from my home). It's great. What you can't find in one, you can go across the street and sometimes find in the other. Hancocks has a clearance area that has some good deals. JoAnns prices are over the top. Let's face it, 40% off of something that starts out at $12.99 a yard, is NOT a deal! And you are right most of what they have in store, has a SALE sign already on it. Have you noticed their RED TAG items range from $1.00 to over $12.00 a yard? I was told by someone, that JoAnns has "bought out" Wal-mart's slowly disappearing Fabric departments. Makes sense. Have you noticed the RED TAG fabric looks a lot like the stuff you once got off the Wal-mart $1.00 table? If JoAnns would smarten up and sell it for a $1.00 a yard, it would clear out and give the rest of us some cheap material to make Muslins with.
