are safe or should I ask legit? This has to do with exercise equipment or DVD's. There are sellers selling the ZUMBA or CORE RHYTHMS or even some of the equipment and they are cheaper than the infomercials. I know that it is possible to get some great deals on lots and people then turn around and sell them. I just wouldn't want to be part of any counterfit operation. When they are factory sealed do you think they are legit? I can't decide. Why would they keep the buyer identity safe? What is your opinion?
Thanks, Janet

I would consider the item carefully. Electronics would probably get a pass from me. Some offers are reconditioned items that the manufacturer did not do. Check feedback throughly and ask detailed questions about return policies and shipping price. If the seller doesn't answer promptly I would skip it.....they sure won't answer if there is a problem.
I also do a 'gut check'.....that little voice has a purpose
A few dollars saved isn't worth the stress and aggravation if it says "Don't go there"!
Sellers are much more careful about their reputations now that rules have changed so that's a plus. Good luck!

I'm sure eBay still has access to whatever they have sold. So if ebay suspected anything, they could just look into their auctions.
Also, some sellers just keep their winning bids private for privacy sake, espically if they sell 'adult' items. Some sellers just believe that what they sell to people isn't anyones business. Buyers may not want others to know what they buying. I don't think it's a matter of trying to scam people, just a privacy thing.
Keep in mind that the auction isn't private, it's the bidders that are kept private.

Thanks. I think most of the ones listed are probably legit. I saw some before that stated the box was open as they did that to make sure the DVDs were secured in shipping. Those I didn't trust. Most of these are factory sealed so they are probably alright.

Hi,
I've purchased tons of stuff from Ebay and sold on it as well. The reason that some items are purchased and kept "hidden" could be for many reasons. Not all bad ones. For the most part look at it from the purchaser's point of view. If you bought a $500.00 coat and were planning on hitting your boss up for a raise, would you want them to know you purchased it? Also, just because it's a public site doesn't mean that everything you do you want the world to see. I've sold handbags that the buyer wanted to keep private because everyone knew their user id (family and friends) and they purchased gifts they didn't want the "receivers" to see.
One more reason that I can think of off the top of my head... if you're selling 10 of the same item one at a time, you don't want future bidders to know what the previous identical item sold for. Whenever I want to bid on an item the first thing I check is the seller's feedback and look for the same item to see what it sold for. It gives me a "limit" on what my maximum bid will be on it, knowing that most likely the seller has another one that I could get cheaper. Especially when dealing with "newbies" to bidding that want to raise the price just to "win" it, not because it's necessarily worth it.
I hope this helps. It's mostly about keeping the winning bid amount private. At least for me anyway.
