I like to sew. I have a sewing blog. Yet, the two don't seem to mesh very well. =)
How do you manage your diary of sewing with...um...sewing?
I have actually made a few things since I wrote my last sewing entry on my blog (or pattern review), but I have yet to add them to my blog because I don't have pictures.
Do you photo your progress as you sew? Do you sew the entire garment and then backtrack for photos?
How do you blog and sew?
Thanks!

I take pictures as I go. Lots of 'em.
Later (when I'm done with the sewing project), I'll load up the pictures, figure out which ones I want to use, put 'em in the right order, then "blog" pretty much by writing wordy "captions" for each picture.

I'll blog as I'm doing a project if there's something unique or interesting about it, or if there is some technique that I want to share. Otherwise I wait until the garment is finished and then review it in toto.

I do both. If it's an easy project I can finish in a couple of hours I might have mentioned in an earlier post my intention of making the garment, then I'll post the garment when it's done. If I have to do multiple muslins, then I'll blog as I go looking for input. I really like the feeling like I'm not alone in my sewing room any longer. Sharing my progress and getting feedback really is nice.

I usually show a picture of the pattern and fabric before I start, then I show a picture of the completed garment.
I don't blog or write about every step but if there's something in particular that I want to show, I'll take pictures and write about it. Examples would be if there's something weird about the pattern, or if I want to show a special hem treatment or something.
I also usually mention what notions and trims I'm using--things like interfacing, thread, machine feet, etc. because that's the type of thing I'm always wondering about when I look at other people's projects.

That's me too. I usually take pictures as I go along and put the nitty-gritty in the blog and the G-rated version on patternreview.com.
I do sometimes just copy the completed review from here and put it on my blog but that's the exception, not the rule. I figure if people want to read the whole review, they can come here and see it. They don't want to see it twice. I usually add the very detailed photos to my blog.

Dawn - I check out your blog every day and love the way you have linked to such good tutorials. Sherril - I can't wait to check out your blog! It looks like there are other new links on this thread to explore too! Several of you don't have your blog's url's in your posts - please consider adding them so we can enjoy them!
Me? I blog as I buy groceries and plan menus!! I need to start taking pictures = I've been lazy.

Ditto Sherrill & Dawn. And I usually blog the before (pattern & fabric) just as a motivating tool for me. Um, I bat about 20% with that on average.
But I keep trying!------

I sort of do both. I started out with just writing about what I was making, but I started getting a bunch of questions on HOW to make certain pieces, and how to construct or create this or that....so....depending on what it is, I'll either write with pictures and "tutorials" or just finished product. I also just discuss different aspects of the costume and cosplay community, as well as crocheting (though I need to do more of that :P)
I know I'm not the best sewer, but I'm learning and posting on my blog has both helped others learn and extend my own knowledge. So it really excites me to work on it :D
I thought today that I should start making week-end posts of "what I accomplished this week that I didn't blog about". Stupid stuff that doesn't need a whole post--like the bias tape I made this week. Or am making. I'm so proud of it, haha

I usually blog whatever I feel like, so if I want to show progress on a garment or a pattern because it is in some way interesting, I blog it! There are no rules in blogging.
I am pretty comfy with it because I have had a blog on Blogger since 2003, and web sites long before that, so I even get a little lazy about it all. I just blogged my new shoes on my sewing blog! HAHAHHA. Well, they ARE garments really...I didn't make 'em though....but I love 'em...
