the "button" came apart! (Moderated by Deepika, EleanorSews)

The "button" (with the logo on it) came apart and fell off. It must not have been snapped on properly. Now there is a small round hole, about 1/16" across.
How would I repair this? I haven't seen anything like that "button" in the stores.
I swear, these jeans were NOT tight!

I take a piece of fabric from a "jean cadaver" donor and patch the hole area from the backside, stitching A LOT over the area where the hole is. Then go to the fabric store and get replacement buttons--they are the metal button and a nail thingy. You put the nail thingy in the fabric from the backside, put the button on top and whack with a hammer (I cover my button with a washcloth).
I have seen these buttons come off expensive jeans and Walmart jeans--it doesn't matter where they are sold--I get the feeling they are all made in the same place.

If the button just came apart and the fabric is intact, you can get a replacement button at Joann's or Walmart. Just put it back in the same hole. The problem in this case was obviously a faulty button/installation.
If the fabric is worn out, I'd rip out a couple of inches of stitching of the waist band near the end, put a square inch or so of new backing on the inside, stitch it back, then put on the new button.

Thanks! I actually found these buttons at another JoAnn's. Lee Jeans must have had a bunch of defective buttons. I tried another pair on at the outlet mall (I went there hoping to get a new coat) and darned if they didn't have a button with the top missing!

YEP! Like I said--expensive or not, I have had problems with these types of buttons on many pairs of jenas from kids to adults. That's why I try to keep at least one of those button thingys around. Nothing like a wailing teenager at 7am when the button comes off THE jeans THEY MUST WEAR TODAY!
Take those things off, into the garage, a couple of whacks with the hammer and you are good to go!
