Ideas, please! (Moderated by Deepika)

OK - I don't have my Christmas tree up yet, but it my tidying pre-Christmas, I came upon another project that has been sitting in the back of my mind. I need some ideas of what to do with old silk undies.
Yes, I know it is a bit weird, but I buy plain, full cut briefs from staplesonline.com (no, not the office equipment store and NAYY, just a very happy customer) and though they last a really long time, they do eventually get runs in them and supposedly the elastic wears out, though it has never happened with mine. Anyway, I am definitely past the stage where I am willing to wear undies with runs and small holes in them, but far too thrifty to toss them in the fabric recycling. I also don't want to give them to a thrift store, as I suspect they would just get tossed.
I suppose they would make decent cleaning cloths - maybe for delicate things like computer screens, etc., but that is hardly going to use the ten or so pairs I have in the back of my dresser drawer.
Anyway, any ideas would be appreciated!

If natural color, dye them (or not), cut the larger parts into strips (If you used a continuous loop you could maybe get some serious yardage going) and use the strips like yarn to knit a silk something or other.....like a washcloth or one of my favorite recyling things...a soap saver bag.
I crocheted or knit (can't remember which and it's old now so hard to tell), a small bag, about 3"x6"or so with a drawstring tie and a pattern that was somewhat loose...wool cotton yarn worked best. Put small bits of barsoap that are getting too little to handle inside and use like a washcloth in the shower.

Nice products on that website. If I had seen if a couple weeks ago, I would have had some of my Christmas shopping done.
Not knowing the amount of fabric you have available, what about using it to line make up bags or eye masks? You do not have to tell the recipient what the fabric's original use was.
I would guess that it would be great for cleaning glasses too, what about a glasses case lined with it and a small piece included for cleaning?
