I really will have to think about this. I just got a renewal notice for Burda WOF. $120.00 per year! Unfortunately that is getting a bit steep for me. I think I may have to just pick and choose my issues based on the previews. That really is a big chunk of change all at once. Especially since I really haven't sewn anything from one of the issues in several years. I am sure that all the issues that I have going back to 2004 will be a good pattern base to work from!

I think that will be the end of my subscription. I may hold onto the Plus Fashion one, though.

Same for me. I mean, I can afford it, I suppose, but the truth is that practically speaking, I have been more attracted by the in-store catalogue for a while now. Haven't been drawn to sew anything from the mag in more than a year.
My husband takes the New England Journal of Medicine for about $130 a year. It's got researched papers, big studies, photos and illustrations, a LOT of current medical information--and it's a weekly. WOF offers nothing like that.

That's what mine was when I renewed in October but it sounds like $120 is the new renewal rate.
I guess per pattern it's still a great deal, that is, if you make enough for it to be worth it. I find that their patterns fit me so much better, that it may still be worth it for the less fitting trouble.

It still says $80 on the website for periodocals and $120 for first class shipping.
Interesting....
With the dollar tanking, a spike would make sense. But, I'm going to hold out and hope that maybe they gave you the first class rate

Oh that looks like good news Cidell. I had to take a look, out of curiosity as I subscribe direct to Burda in Germany. The rate is 66 Euros which converts to approx $85 US ATM.
GLP pricing
My sub. renewed on Dec 28th and it cost $132 AU .... but ... to buy it here in Australia on a sub. is now $190
and a delay of 3 months.
For us Downunder in the land of "no cheap patterns", BWOF is a great value, fashion forward magazine with patterns.

Vonne, this made me laugh, although I probably should be crying because it's so true.
I'm glad to hear Burda's €66 hasn't increased. That's what I paid back in March 2008. The drop in the exchange rate does makes it more expensive though. Oh well, we can't control the exchange rate and we did have it good for quite a while. I will keep subscribing as I feel I get my money's worth, as you say in the land of no cheap patterns.
