I'm becoming addicted to CW fabrics and since my family history is involved in the civil war. I've become attracted to this time period. Not sure why now at 49. So of course want to do a civil war quilt. I see a whole new addiciton starting collecting the fabrics. I haven't decided on a pattern yet.

yes I too love the CW fabrics. When I went to the Houston Quilt show I purchase some bonnie blue. I used the fabrics to make a wall hanging for my grandfather's 90th bday. I use the fabrics as the back ground and sewn on pictures from his 90 year life. Way Cool

I have a very large collection of CW repro's (mostly fat quarters). I'm using them to make a Dear Jane quilt. I'm trying to match her fabrics. I've got many of them as exact repro's.

That's a daunting task. That's a beautiful quilt. I had thought about making a wall hanging. But it seems a lot of the blocks are applique and I'm just not an applique person. Same reason I will probably never do a Baltimore Album. Good luck on the Dear Jane.

My favorite source for CW fabrics is Bonnie Blue Quilts They also have very nice patterns. I am working on the Lancaster Quilt. My new favorite fabric is cheddar!

Also love the reproduction fabrics of the Civil War era. One of my favorite sources is Homestead Hearth a store out of Mexico Mo. Also on-line.
Am working on a quit with the Missouri Star pattern and other patterns from this area and time.

I wound up picking the "Sallie" pattern. Being a dog lover, had to pick a pattern inspired by a dog. There is a very good seller on ebay http://stores.shop.ebay.com/SEW-FAR-SEW-GOOD-QUILT-SHOP__W0QQ_armrsZ1. She has great prices and great customer service

Daunting is right! This is a project that I have given myself all the time in the world to work on. If it takes me years (and it will..many years) I am okay with that. I plan to hand quilt it once I get it pieced. I'm doing all the easy pieced blocks first and then I will move on the the more difficult ones.

But oh my gosh do I have a lot of repro fabrics. Over 200, and all I need is about a fat eighth of each one.

You will have to keep us updated on your progress. Have you started it yet? Since you plan the making of it to last quite a while you should make a photo or video diary of your progess for future generations.

I have the Dear Jane software and I'm keeping track of my progress on that. I have about 10 blocks finished. They are itty bitty and so cute! I got held up for a while when I couldn't find the EXACT fabrics and then finally started being satisfied if I found a close match but not necessarily identical to the original.

A lady I used to work with is making one and she prowls around for actual vintage fabric matches. I am not going to go that far! Plus Brenda Papadakis has a line of fabrics that are repro's of some of Jane's originals and I plan to get a set of fat 1/8ths of those.
