Re-drafting pattern pieces so that the final result is pleated (Moderated by Deepika, Sharon1952)

I have a customer who wants me to recreate this ballgown for her. I am using the Sense and Sensibility gown pattern. My customer is fine that her bodice will not be a bib front like in the movie, but the trouble that I feel I'm about to run into is this: The Sensibility bodice is a plain front and just has a small gathered area under each breast for definition. My customer is a 34A so there isn't going to be a whole lot to define. The way that I re-drafted the bodice front pattern to be large enough to do the pleated front is just to pleat a sheet of paper and lay the original pattern over it, trace onto the pleated sheet and then un-pleat it and connect the lines. This kind of eliminates being able to gather under the bust without it looking weird (to have pleats AND gathers). Do you think it would cause a fitting issue to just exclude the gathers and have a straight bodiced pleated across the bust? The lining will still have the little gathered bits (which really are tiny) to allow for her bust, and I'm thinking that if she needs and extra room, the pleats will just redistribute themselves a little. Yes? I hope this is clear.

I'd forget about re-drafting.
How about pleating the fabric and then laying the pattern pieces on the pleated fabric? Then you could still do small gathers for her smaller bust.

Redrafting is a little strong. I basically didn't know how much extra to add for the pleats so, while watching tv, I pleated some paper to the appropriate size and then traced my pattern piece onto it and when I unpleated the paper I connected the dots, so to speak. Voila! Super long pleatable pattern!
