Does anyone know where on these message boards is a post about a lady who posted pictures of herself on a website with various outfits she made from vintage patterns? All I remember is that she is black and is wearing these outfits with advice about what style points are right and wrong for plus size ladies.
I thought I bookmarked her pictures but guess I didn't.
Thank you if you remember what I'm talking about !!!

It sounds to me like you're talking about this woman. I love her work and find it inspirational for my own plus size sewing. http://www.newvintagelady.com/

What a talented lady! I don't sew vintage clothes, but I really enjoyed her blog. Thanks for posting the URL.

Diary of a Sewing Fanatic uses a lot of vintage patterns as a basis for her current wardrobe.
I don't see a way to sort for the vintage ones though...

I just watched "Mr. Blandings Builds his Dream House" and I kept admiring Myrna Loy's lovely outfits. I totally fell in love with a simple jacket (no shaping) that appeared to be maybe a khaki type of coloring/fabric on the outside and a animal printed fur for the lining and inside color. I just loved it. It was basically a swing coat style, and I can wear that!!!

Girl friend, I have a coat pattern you would like then that I got from CG.
Hey, I agree with you Sondra, I really love that woman's blog. What I would like to know is---where did she get my Grandmother's shoes???? I used to go with her to Tulsa and she would buy those shoes. I would love to have a pair now! I think they are cool.

Wow, that's a neat site.
I like as I do like vintage although haven't gotten around to it yet due to fit issues.

Thank you, Sickofitcindy, for helping me out with the correct site, newvintagelady.com. That's the one ! BTW, what exactly is it you are sick of?
I'm curious !
I appreciate the other replies as well.

I think New Vintage Lady is about the classiest big gal I have seen -- she really works those vintage clothes and her style tips are right on.
Ody, I had those shoes ---- My friends and I always referred to them as "nun boots" since all the nuns at our Catholic school wore Red Cross oxfords. When I was in high school I bought a pair (slightly higher heel than new vintage lady is wearing in the photos) and I loved them. Some years ago I went on a search for another pair to wear with suits (pants) and I found that Red Cross no longer makes anything like the great nun boots of the 1930s. Take a look at Taryn Rose shoes, a very pricy brand but some similar styles ... I'm waiting to win the lottery and then I'll get a pair.

2012 : starting stash 386, net additions 206, used 164, ending stash 428...I'm never going to get in front of this pile of fabric!
