Has anyone tried this? I am specifcally looking at the little jacket - too much fabric for plus sizes? I am a little confused by step 5, but I think I might do a muslin to test it out.

This weekend I made a couple tops from this article; the idea intrigued me so much I had to try it out. I couldn't picture how it would work before I tried it, but once I did it and followed the directions in each step it worked like a charm. If you wanted to do a muslin you could do a miniature one just to see how the seams match up.
It's definitely a loose, non-fitted style; I would recommend something that's not too stiff otherwise it would look bulky.
I'll try to get my review written asap - one thing to note is that you need to make sure that the bigger square has sides that are exactly twice the size of the smaller square sides; the directions for adding seam allowances are wrong and/or misleading.

There is a correction to the instructions on the Threads web site. The instructions for setting the squares sizes in Threads are not correct.

AK I cannot find the corrections on the threads website.
Could you possibly show the link or give details of the correct measurments.
Thanks

Thank-you so much for the update.
I made the jacket, following the original instructions and it was a snap to put together.
I can't wear it though and thought I was going to have to find a tent maker to get the right size.
With the correction (I hate it when they do this - haven't they heard of quality control?), I will try another.
First one goes into the yard sale as soon as I can figure out what size it is??????????????

Take hold of the small square and fold the "v" end together.
The larger square will then encapsulate the smaller one.
Stitch from the top of the larger "v" to the stitching of the smaller square.
If you look close, the stitching for the small square is shown with red stitches and the stitching for the large square are shown with gold stitches.
Open the small square from the bottom and then clip the small square only for any open front.
You may want to serge around each square before assembly.

You are welcome.
I made a doll-sized top since I was having trouble following the instructions. Now it makes perfect sense.

What do you think this would look like on a plus size - normal rtw size 20?

Kathy,
I think it would look fine. Don't know about full bust room in such a top, but there's no way to tell except try one.
I'm not such a stickler for perfect fit when it's 95+ degrees outside.
