down? (Moderated by Deepika, EleanorSews)
Posted on: 7/3/09 3:07 PM ET
I have been trying all day to get onto the website all recipes but it keeps telling me it cannot be found.
I was planning on using a recipe from there for supper.
What's a girl to do?
Please let me know if you are able to get on, anyone.

I don't mind going to work but it's that 8 hour wait to go home that's a B!TCH.

It certainly looks as if they're having a problem. Is there any chance you could find the same recipe on recipezaar.com or epicurious.com ?

Down for me too. It appears their network is down. Hopefully they are scrambling to fix it because I love that site!!

Yea! You saved me. I found the exact same recipe over there. Chicken Lasagna - it's a white lasagna and has spinach in it too! Looks yummy.
I found a cake recipe that I had printed that I went ahead and used- I was going to make the Orange Cake but settled on Poppyseed Bundt Cake instead.
Thanks again. I've never heard of either of those. I have been going to all recipes since it first began around 12 years ago. It used to be allcookierecipes.com and allcakerecipes.com they just merged into one fabulous recipe swap. Love 'em!

Ack! It's still down for me. I was going to make a taco meat recipe today that I found last night. It had lots of spices, so I can't just do it roughly from memory! (and I'm doing it for a food group, so I can't fake it)

I have that recipe, use it all the time. Here you go:
Taco Seasoning Mix
1 tsp dried minced onion
1 tsp chili powder
3/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp cornstarch
1/4 tsp dried minced garlic
1/4 tsp ground cumin
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
1/8 tsp beef bouillon granules
1/8 tsp dried oregano
1-1/2 ounces ground beef
1-1/4 tsp water
Combine the first nine ingredients. Store in an airtight container in a cool dry place for up to 1 year. To prepare tacos; In a skillet, brown beef; drain. add 2 T taco seasoning mix and water. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes.
NOTES: I scaled this to 2 servings as you can tell by the ground beef but use this for 1/2 lb ground beef. I like to mix it myself and tweak to our taste, sometimes making it hot, sometimes not. As written, the recipe is quite salty and too hot for our taste, so I play around with it.
I usually end up doubling most of the spices except the red pepper flakes, subbing garlic salt for the salt and bouillon, and using a bit more water than called for when cooking 1 pound of ground beef.

A friend just clued me in to a fire last night at a major server location in Seattle. Wanna bet allrecipes is one of the websites affected?

Leora - I'm confused. At least I think I'm confused. The spice quantities you listed are used to season 1-1/2 ounces of ground beef?
I'm trying to imagine what 1-1/2 ounces of ground beef looks like, and the mental picture I'm getting is a very small meatball....and a very hungry husband.
Or are the amounts listed to be used for 1/2 lb. ground beef?

Yeah, I'm the confusing one in the family.
I had scaled the recipe to 2 servings and typed it up as scaled, but this is what I use spice-wise for 1/2 lb of meat.
I have been doubling this lately for 1lb of meat, but using more chili powder and less pepper flakes. It is also too salty for us so be careful if you try it!

Thanks. I'll give it a try. The prepared mixes in the little envelopes are too sweet, and I've been looking for something to use instead. This sounds perfect - and I'll be careful of the salt. Must be my advancing age, but a lot of things seem too salty to me. Salt should be reserved for the rim of the margarita glass.
