Does anyone know of a good source for fabric that is particularly appropriate for yoga pants? Needs to be stretchy and bottom weight. Thanks!

Oh, I forgot to add that I'm really looking for basic solid colors. I can find "dancewear" fabric, but It's pretty fancy! I need something I can run my errands in after yoga class

If you want cotton/lycra, try Spandex House. They have other products that would work, too.

If you're interested in Dri-release wick-a-way fabric try Decent Exposures.

I got a really nice cotton lycra in the clearance fabric area of the Chez Ami website. Colors are very very limited though. I got the solid brown. Quality was absolutely top notch and it was $3.50/yd (have to buy in 2 yd increments). They do children's stuff so not a lot of solids.
I asked the same question a while back on another forum and people suggested sewzannesfabrics.com as having some good bottom weights right now of cotton lycra. I'm ordering soon too as I need a few more pair for fall.

That was going to be my suggestion. I've bought her cotton/lycra especially for this purpose before and it's nice stuff.

I have a pair of pants that I got several years ago on a crazy clearance - they are Eileen Fisher, and usually well out of my price range! They are a very substantial bottom weight knit with great recovery, they never lose their shape or bag at the knees and they have the best 2 1/2" wide elastic waist - it's a fabric foldover. So I have been looking for sources similar to the ones that sewme47 is looking for. I can't find that elastic anywhere and I haven't been able to duplicate the fabric in weight or stretch. I just purchased several lengths of lycra blend cotton knit from Fabric.com to make Belly Bands for my pregnant daughters (THREE at once!!) and it's nice but not nearly as heavy/substantial as I am hunting for. Thanks for the suggestions.

Don't rule out non-cotton fabrics (unless you know you really, really like them). I found a few fabrics on remnant racks that are mystery poly/lycra that feel very much like the upscale (Nike, Lulu etc.) fabrics that have made great yoga pants. Also french terry has lots of body and a little more oomph so it doesn't show every lump and bump. Found the first one in a thrift store and started to look around for more. DD found us a nice fairly local source. I have been very happy with the service from Sewzanne's

Fabric.com recently got in a bunch of different performance knits. I ordered some dryflex and some of THIS cotton/lycra in the lime green. I didn't get the dryflex yet (they sent the wrong thing), but the cotton/lycra is very nice. It is described as medium weight, and I agree, I'm making a top with mine, but I would use it for yoga pants as well. I've washed it and it is still soft, however it does curl up on the edges like jerseys tend to do.
