Hello sewers and lovers of fabric!
I am having trouble with some silk dupioni from Joann Fabric which was about 54-inch and wound on a bold, folded down the middle. My pattern calls for the skirt front piece to be cut on the fold, and this is where the problem comes, because the fold line is right up and down the center of the skirt. I have tried ironing and steam-ironing it, but it doesn't want to go away. I will have the same problem with the top center piece but that will have lace over it, and won't be noticeable. Any suggestions?

Is there any way you can lay out you pattern without using the center fold? For pattern pieces that are made to be cut on center front, another half can be cut out of paper so the whole front is cut in one layer. If you have enough fabric that would be the best solution. Center front is especially the one place you don't want to see a crease that won't go away.
If the silk isn't going to be washed you don't want to get water on it as it can spot. My understanding is getting creases out of silk is difficult.
All the silk I bought for my DD wedding dress I kept on round cardboard rolls and never had it folded as I wanted no creases. In many fabric stores the silk comes on these same round cardboard rolls.
I'm sorry I can't be of help to you in getting the crease out.

try draping the material over something, step back, and see if it really shows as much as you think. I made my wedding dress of silk dupioni and after cutting the whole thing out, realized there was a random crease line running down the center front! I couldn't iron it out to save my life, but once the dress started coming together I hardly noticed it. I got married on a sunny day and with the sun shining, no one, myself included, could see the crease.

If it's still visible, even just moving the fold over a few inches and cutting the pattern there ( as someone else suggested, if it fits) would at least mean the crease isn't running right up the center of the dress!
