Has anyone signed up for Sharon Schamber's web classes? They cost $130 right now, with the membership price going up in a few days. I saw a few of her free videos on youtube, and liked the one on handbasting a quilt. I have a domestic machine, and am thinking about quilt as you go methods. Thanks! Tailormaid

I haven't subscribed to Sharon Schambers network - yet. But I am very tempted. Her free videos and lessons are very detailed and her explanations and instructions are quite good. The quality of her teaching and her unique techniques make this very tempting.

If I understand correctly, if you are a member, you can watch the videos over and over during the year of your membership.

I think I've learned something new from every free video or lesson that she has posted. Right now she has 81 videos. For $130, that works out to $1.60 per video to watch it as many times as you want in a year. Another way to compute this is to count how many of her video lessons you think would be helpful to you, and divide $130 by that number. Compare that to buying or renting DVDs and how much you pay for quilting classes.

Some other options for online quilting videos:
Quilter's TV This one is free, but many of the segments are focused on advertising specific products. Interesting info, though.

QNN - Quilter's News Network This one is subscription, $24 for a year. A lot of their programming is older episodes of Quilt in a Day, Fons and Porter, Kaye's Quilting Friends, Quilting from the Heartland, and more. If you've watched a lot of quilting shows, you may have seen a lot of these episodes before (but QNN has LOTS of them). And if you've never seen them before, then they are new to you.

Also, QNN has some original programming that they produced themselves. Dozens of quilting shows, that I do go back and watch to refresh my memory, if there's a technique I want to review. Some segments are geared towards advertising specific products. See Free QNN video page to get an idea of what they offer.

Sharon's videos are not so much "fun TV shows and ads" but more serious instruction about how to accomplish her techniques.

CMC,
Thanks for the reply. I subscribed, and am loving it! The quality of instruction is excellent, and I am sure I will have much enjoyment over the year. Tailormaid
