Does anyone watch this series? It's really good, IMHO, but if you don't care for the story/themes, etc. you will love the fashions if you like vintage! They have a video tour of the costume room, but she only pulls one dress off the rack to show off and it doesn't show well on the screen. Darn it. Still, it might be interesting to those who sew. Especially when she talks about the 'donations' she got for the show.....

I even liked the Chlorox commercial that preceded the video....

Thanks for the link! I absolutely LOVE Mad Men and I've been swooning over the fashions (and my fiance's been swooning over the suits!) and we're both so excited for the start of the third season tonight. :)

Thank you for posting the Mad Men link. I have added it to my favorites.

I really enjoy watchng this show, both for the costumes, and the mind set of the sixties. Really looking forward to watching the start of the 3rd season tonight.

Once again thank you - Athene

Well I saw the 3rd season premiere and really enjoyed it. But I am wondering if I intrepreted the introductory scenes correctly or not.

There were flashbacks to Don Draper's mom, and to a girlfriend Don Draper had
long ago. It showed Don Draper's mom losing a baby and wanting one - and it showed Don's girlfriend having a baby - and this baby was called Dickie( either by the girlfriend or Don's mom) and Dickie that was given to Don Draper's mom by the midwife to replace the baby she lost.

Am I correct, or did I misintrepret these opening scenes?

Don/Dick was adopted. If I understood the opening scene properly, it shows his adoptive mother losing a baby, and his birth mother giving birth to him. He was then given to his adoptive mother. It was interesting to see how he got is name 'Dick'

Was Dick's adoptive father also his biological father? I couldn't tell if the "customer" was or wasn't the same man as the husband of the woman who gave birth to the stillborn baby.

I think it was season 1 when they explained that Don's father was both his adopted and biological father.
