Has anyone else become addicted to cruising Craigslist for fabrics? Have you found some fabulous bargains? or am I the only one crazy enough to do it??

One of my best scores was 6 ROLLS of Malden Mills polar fleece in bright colors (and some partial rolls of teal & turquoise). Got them all for $60 and they pretty much filled a minivan. I've made blankets for gifts and around the house, jackets, hoodies, jammies, pullovers.

My other fabulous purchase was enough home dec fabric to do my living room, deck furniture, bedroom, and sunroom. Not all the same fabric, of course! An upholstery/design studio was going out of business and selling ROLLS of great stuff for $5 to $50 PER ROLL. I never could have bought this at regular prices--it is commercial grade/high end stuff. I've already reupholstered my favorite recliner in some gorgeous and absolutely everything-proof fabric that is the foundation of my new living room scheme.

Of course, the down side is storing all this stuff...

Is there anyone else out that that understands??? Now when I buy more stuff, I bring it in when no one is home.

Lucky you. I am hoping to find embroidery thread and notions, but my local CS is bereft of such treasures.
In which category are your finding this? Arts and crafts?

I haven't bought fabric or sewing supplies from craigslist, but I've sold a bunch! Also sold a bunch on yarns & needles I didn't need--I love CL:)

I look every day, and can go weeks and weeks without finding anything fun. But then again, if stuff showed up all the time I wouldn't have any room to put it!

How I search all depends on what I'm looking for, and it usually means wading through a bunch of irrelevant ads because CL's search function is pretty basic.

Try looking for thread, embroidery, whatever. My standard searches are "sewing" and "fabric," but I'll be more specific when I'm looking for something like Olfa rotary cutters--then I search on "Olfa." No, I haven't found any of those yet, but I continue to hope!

It does take a while to find something specific. Hmmm...funny....I met my hubby on CL the third time I ever logged!

I've been afraid to try CL ...I'm a internet auction addict..just tonite I saw four sewing machines I need!! I have no room and don't need another wonderful source.

Since we are neighbors and you said to search for specific items, I'll be the one to ask....under what listing did you find the hubby?

I cruise Craigslist for sewing supplies. I found a tailor going out of business one time and purchased some English tropical wool, spiral steel boning and some tools. Another time, I found some button covers and one of those accordian buttonhole placement things.

Funny! Are DH's listed under Barter, Antiques, Sporting, or Tools?

It seems a lot of ladies here sell new emb. machines when they thought they'd start a little business and didn't research it, but the SM stores still have better prices.

I look for those good old Grandma-homes being cleaned out at Estate sales. One of my best finds was a roomful of dozens of bagged and matched quilting fabrics, Christmas prints, and boxes of trims, but DH never gives me time to sort through!

Hey Neighbor! I've been away from the computer so please excuse the delay in answering.

What category did I find hubby? Whatever they call the one where men were looking for women, but NOT the casual encounters. :)

What part of Washington are you in?
