Hi, I am an advanced beginner in sewing and have been looking for a Baby Lock serger I can afford. There is a new one in the box, never used listed on ebay now for $285 buy it now or I can put in my best offer. Shipping is only $14 so that sounds fair. Is this a good price or does anyone have advice on what a good best offer price would be? There are lots of pictures of it in detail and it looks as they say, brand new with every thing in the original box. I guess that lady is now 85 and never used it and it's been in a closet for 10 or 15 years. Maybe this is my chance to get a Baby Lock serger that is new, I can afford and won't be filled with lint and used parts to worry about breaking down in the middle of my Christmas projects! Does anybody have advice on what I should offer or if I should just buy it at the $285 price? It seems a lot less than the $400 used ones I have seen. Thanks for any advice you have!

I do wonder about machines that sit unused for long periods of time. Many of these older Babylock models were permanently lubed and to not be used for so many years might have created some problems.
These older Babylocks were nice sergers but this model came in 2 different versions..the 5280E and the 5280ED. Only the 5280ED model had differential feed. A serger without differential feed would certainly make a difference in the price that I would pay for it.
