Worth it? (Moderated by Sharon1952)

Has anyone used the Strip-It Fabric Cutter? It looks like it could be useful to make binding strips but I've not heard anything about it except for the short description of the item. Any other suggestions on making binding. I mainly use lycra/tricot/knit fabric.

I had never heard of this but I googled it and if it worked it would be great. However I might try it if it went up to 2". Price is not bad. I have a pair of Black and Decker scissors with a clamp to attach to table. I had never used the clamp but my GS was in my sewing room with me the other day and clamped the scissors to table and I realized the clamp would keep the scissors running and I realized I might be able to cut strips this way. I marked lines with marker and was able to cut strips. I hadn't done much but I believe it will work and I can do any width I want. The scissors were $19.95. Of course the cutter might be easier but I need wider strips.

Personally I can't see it working for bias binding strips because the fabric would stretch and become narrower as you pulled it through the gadget. It might work for straight bindings though but again not on knits for the same reason. That's my two cents.

Like Sew4Fun, I do not think this would work on knit fabrics. Simplicity has a .Strip Cutter, but it's quite expensive and it's not recommended for knits.
