Hi!! I'm really looking at getting a Bendable Bright Light. I have -12.50 myopia/astigmatism & it takes me longer to thread a s/m needle than to make the project

...
Does any one have one?
I guess I'll need to make a sewing machine cover 'cos mine is a Kenmore plastic one & a small-fitting Dollar Store one...
Any thought will be helpful/hopeful!!

I had thought of getting one of these but the cord turned me off. I have enough power cords around machine. If had had batteries I would have brought it in an instant. But if you don't mind the cord. Don't understand why you one a machine cover to use it?

I have one attached to the left side of my machine. It sticks out 3/4'' (pardon the English units!) which is within the base footprint of my machine, so it doesn't interfere with the cover.
It does provide a very focused bright light, which is nice and I really need to supplement the lighting from my machine. But, since I don't think I am ever completely satisfied with anything, there are a couple of things I don't like. Sometimes the light is almost too bright, especially when it reflects off the metal throat plate and presser foot. It helps to offset the beam, so the light isn't pointing directly at the point where I want the light. Second thing is that it often seems to be in the way when I am manipulating fabric. No matter where I put it, I always seem to knock it around.
And the cord isn't that big of a deal. They provide little clips that I stuck on the back of my machine to guide the cord to the right side where the power cord is, so it doesn't get in the way.
Hope this helps you with your decision! Kim

I have one. Like it was said earlier, it's a rather focused beam of light so it doesn't light up everything. It's very bendable and flexible so I can easily focus on the part I want. It's especially helpful later in the evenings when sewing black thread on black fabric - the true color aspect of the light really helps bring out the details. The cord hasn't been an issue because it has clips to maneuver it out of the way.
I'd say the light is a "nice to have" but it didn't magically solve all my vision problems. I don't regret it, though.

Thanks for everyone's input... Eye don't know, eh... Is it a lack of light or a lack of hand-to-eye co-ordination??

I have one and I like it, but I thought the price was too high and I don't like having to plug into wall, as someone mentioned. However, I always turn it on when I'm sewing. I put mine up with thick foam double faced tape so I could move it, but I never move it. If you do a ”light“ search under tips, many ideas pop up for these type lights. Also there was a thread (can't find) on how several people liked the cheap LED lights. They are at WalMart for about 3-8 dollars, they last for quite a while and you throw them out when they don't light any longer. I really wish I had tried one of those first.

I love my Bendable bright light! It isn't general lighting for sure but it is a godsend for sewing (or unsewing) dark fabrics, especially at night. I had to unpick a black buttonhole on black and purple wool boucle and I can tell you that it wouldn't have happened (even in broad daylight) without the little light. Look around and you will find varying prices on them.

I have had one for quite some time and absolutely love it. It can be moved so the light is not directly on the presser foot but just a little forward or to one side. Another thing I like is that it is attached to the machine but can be directed outward toward my garment for ripping out seams, etc. I bought another base and attached it to my serger but have never used it for that. The light can be removed from the base when packing up the machine, although I don't know why you would need to since it only sticks out a small amount. This is one of the best purchases I have made.
Sure, I could have bought an LED light, but that is just one more thing on my sewing table, which is really crowded as it is.

Did see the light in the catalog but since it has a power cord with it, did not purchase it. I use a human-powered SM without any type of light. Perhaps one of the battery lights from Walgreens or elswhere would do.

I second what KC9FMY said. I love my bendable light and would replace it in a heartbeat.
