After much shopping I finally found a bra that fits. However, it does not have the modesty petal that I've seen in some other bras. Is there a way to permanently add a modesty petal to a bra. (maybe some type of glue in, or iron on) I don't want to use the silicone petals. thanks!

Use a petal shape piece of polar fleece in either a color similar to the bra or similar to your skin color. They pretty much stay in place once you have them inserted. If they move you can use that roll-on sort of glue that makes a temporary hold.

Good idea - does it have to be in the shape of a petal?

I don't think I have ever owned a bra with a "modesty petal". I am not even sure what it is. Am I wearing the wrong bra?

Me neither. My guess is that it's to prevent high beams in cold weather.

I'm glad someone asked this question. I've never heard of that term before. Does this mean the bra is all sheer and not lined at least halfway?

I'm guessing this is a nipple shield? I've never seen one (with lightly padded t-shirt bra's I've not needed anything like this), but it sounds like a useful idea.

Yes, this is a nipple shield. That last time I purchased new bras, the clerk offered to give me a couple but she forgot and so did I . Since I'm in the market for new ones, I'm going to ask about them. I'm also going to check out t-shirt bras - didn't know they were out there or are they not labeled as such. Wouldn't it be just like a lightly padded bra?

I've never heard them called modesty petals but I use a lot of what I call "Light Covers" in my skating dresses -- they are usually incorporated into the lining and/or shelf bra/built-in bra.

I don't know that I've seen bras labelled as T-shirt bras but my understanding is that they are smooth surfaced bras (no visible seams) with varying degrees of padding -- they're meant to provide a smooth look under close-fitting knit and/or spandex clothing.

The only brand I've seen with "modesty petals" built in is Bali. The petal itself is really a round shape with scalloped edges, I guess the reason is to avoid a defined line, which defeats the purpose IMO. Myself, I wear the T-shirt bras (seamless and light padding molded to shape), or regular seamless with the silcone thingies, which I can't feel once attached.

Yes the purpose is to avoid the headlight effect.

I know, TMI.
