How can I repair my new dressform? (Moderated by Sharon1952)
Posted on: 11/16/09 8:03 PM ET
I accidentally knocked over my new dressform today w/my swivel chair. I guess my office/sewing room is way too small.
Anyway it has a three spoke leg assembly. A small piece of plastic that forms the well for one of the legs broke off. I have it secured with masking tape since I was alone when this happened and the whole thing fell over. It is upright but unstable now w/a wooden spoon creating a 4th spoke...yes hard to believe I know. Since it was my fault I doubt I could return it. Anywone got suggestions?

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to god. And
The peace of god, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

Put the whole thing in a Christmas tree stand.

Mine sits in a camera tripod thing. My dressform was a garage sale special, without the base. My husband likes photography & we improvised with this 3 legged piece of photo equipment. It fit perfectly.

LOL! I use the base of an old Manhasset music stand for my mannies - fits perfectly in the base hole, and slides up & down smoothly, then locks in place!

Use an old floor lamp base.

Thanks for the good suggestions. I do have an old camera tripod I have not used on a long time. I may try this first. A friend also mentioned the Christams tree base.

If your form has a hole up inside, you can take an old office chair base, put a small pipe up in the form and then the pipe will fit into the chair base. You now can dance around with your dress form on wheels! That's what I did with mine.

I decided to do this and got an e-mail response from Kevin at Ken's Sewing Center that he would request replacement base from the maunufacturer. So, fingers crossed.

I have Mom's old dressform. The same thing happened to it. There is now a small bolt thru the whole thing which holds the leg in. They must have drilled thru & inserted the screw. It is stronger than the other legs, now.
