I'm making frozen cookie dough balls, and Gyoza for Xmas gifts this year. Every year, our household is filled with goodies that go bad because there's too many sweets that need to be eaten too quickly. So I thought I'd do something different and give frozen cookie dough so people can bake them when they want fresh baked cookies AFTER the holidays are done.

And gyoza is a favorite lunchtime meal for us so we go through a lot of it throughout the year. It's always a nice to have on hand for a quick meal with some rice...

Any one else have ideas for frozen goodies? I really like having an extra freezer full of healthy stuff I can make when days get hectic.

I've never received frozen homemade goodies before. I've received things like frozen seafood as gifts, and I also send frozen green chile as gifts. It's worked well both ways!!

I think I'd like homemade frozen goods if I had the opportunity to taste the finished (cooked) items first, so perhaps a small sample could be included with the frozens. Also, good instructions on how to reheat or cook the items are a must!

I'd love it!! A lot. Though I tend to want to limit the intake of sweets and such after the holiday excesses. Frozen, tasty lunches would be very welcome here.

Yes! DD left frozen gingerbread dough after a visit once and it was a real treat to bake it up later.

I just watched a Good Eats episode last night on waffles, and his recipes are a good replacement for store bought frozen ones. If you have a waffle iron, this would be a good item to stock up on or make to give away!

Here is the link to the recipe from the Foodnetwork.

The only problem I would have with this gift is room in the freezer to store it.

that would be my problem. As far as doughs etc. Why not put the dry ingredients in a festive jar and give instructions on how to finish. You could also give soup in a jar just have to add water. If you do a search on line you will find hundreds of recipes like this to give as gifts. Right now my freezer is stocked cos of holidays and snow so I'd have no room.

Yes, gifts in a jar are lovely. You can find instructions to layer the ingredients in a mason jar so everything fits and looks nice. Just be sure not to give cookie dough ingredients to someone who Never Bakes!

By the way ... What's gyoza?

For those who commented that their freezer was full, do you have a deep freeze or only the one that comes with your fridge?

I only ask because if I only had a fridge freezer I would not have room, but as I have not one, but two deep freezers, I would very much love to receive cookie dough and gyoza. I can always find a bit of room in the deep freeze even if it is full.

I love the one suggestion to have one or two baked with the dough, so the recipient knows what the finished product tastes like.
