I recently made twin GDs some cute monogrammed hairbows and DD would like me to do several more to put in party favor bags for the girl attendees at their b-day party. We have no idea what a comparable item would be for the 5 year old boys. We suffer a serious boy shortage in this family! There will be the usual party stuff in the bags but DD wanted something a little different and personal as well.

Any 5 year old boy owners out there to help us out here???? Thanks!!

When my son was that age (about 8 years ago), he and his friends LOVED pirates.

So, why not some embroidered eye patches? To make regular eye patches, all you need is some felt or fleece ~ or even fake leather ~ as long as it's black, and some elastic thread or elastic cord (again, preferably black).

For the embroidery, you could embroider skullys on the eye area. Boys LOVE skullys.

That said, though, you could prolly find eye patches fairish cheap at a party supply store. Maybe a buck a piece? I dunno how hand-crafted and personal you want them to be!!

BTW, what's the theme of the party? Or does that matter?

What about a marble bag? Mind you my boys are so old now that marbles may not be in favour any more!

Just a little drawstring bag with a few marbles in it.

Good suggestions! Altho' the girls do 'complain' (while batting their eyes!) that the boys chase them on the playground yelling ARGGGGHHHH. "Just don't run" advice evidently falls on deaf ears Sooo, will eyepatches encourage them?? Maybe the girls are the ones who should wear eyepatches. Grandpa has already threatened one particularly ardent suitor with walking the plank! I witnessed the whole affair and I mean, how can a girl not love a boy that will carry her pet baby goat all over the farm for her AND run and catch it and bring it back when it gets away??? TDF

The marble bag would look really cute with a monogram. I do remember DS loving itsy, bitsy toys. It would be a good place to keep your eyepatch, if you had one!

SVC, there is not a theme as such. This is the twins first real party and because it's a twofer it will be at the local gymnastics academy. We'll let them bounce off the walls in a kid friendly environment. DD is very wise! Everyone gets to wear comfy clothes, eat cake, then go home and take a long nap. Win win.

I teach 5 year old boys and they do still like to look "fancy" but in a boyish way. How about fabric bracelets with boy colours/prints - some race cars or monsters or something.

What about zippered bags for hotwheels in cool fabric like flames or something.

With my son's 6th birthday just days away, everyone (including the girls) will be getting a triangular shaped themed fabric. I will help them sew the edges under (OK what I really mean is they get to press the gas while I steer ) as part of a birthday activity. They can use it as they see fit, pirate= tied on the head, cowboy = over their face, princess = rolled up, tied in a ring and placed on the head. This will then become a party favor.

I hope it is both fun and unique. However, as with all children, the best plans can turn out to be the worst ideas.
