If you are changing the width of a pant leg - either making it wider or narrower - do you always add (or subtract) the same amount to the inseam knee and bottom as you did to the outseam? I know that if you plan to crease the pants it is important to add equally to inseam and outseam but what about other styles? If you like the way the inseam hangs but want a straighter outseam can you just add to the outseam without distorting the way the legs hang?

Test it by pinning it first. I have taken off just the side seams, which did work for me (because of the way my legs are "formed"). It may not work for everyone.

When I do the above, I fold the pantlegs to determine where my crease will go.

Thanks Gloria. I guess I will do some experimenting -- although I'm kind of getting burned out with that. I was looking for an easy answer but I know it all depends on shape and posture. I've been having a problem with getting my inseams to hang straight - I think what's causing that problem is that the angle in at the knee is too acute. Time and more muslins will tell.
