Which companies is it that are referred to as "big 4"? I've concluded that it must refer to Mccalls, Butterick, Vogue, and Simplicity, but since the first three of those are all one company now, shouldn't it really be "big 2"? Or when people refer to "what the big 4 companies do" is it more of a general large-pattern-company-industry-standard type thing than a reference to specific companies?
Sorry if this is a silly question, but I've been puzzling over it, and searching, but I haven't been able to find anything about who exactly "big 4" refers to.

It really means the pattern book catalogs not the companys. Like vogue and buttricks or Mccalls , simpicity.

I believe it refers to Vogue, Butterick, McCalls, and Simplicity.
