Hi. I'm not sure if this helps since I'm in the states, but I paid $550 before tax for my 3160QDC.

Above is a link to another pr member that has this machine. She had problems with hers. My local dealer sells this machine for $499 and he is usually more expensive than other Janome dealers. HTH

2160DC
Click "specifications" and there's a detailed list of all the features, even the instruction book.
3160QDC
There's also a comparison area where you can compare the features of both machines. To me the pressure foot adjustment is important especially when sewing knits. Both of these are new models for this year, released in Canada within the last 2 months. In my area the machine was similarly priced for Mother's day. Try the machine with the types of fabrics that you will be sewing.
Sewing machines may be a little less in the USA, but the warranty isn't valid in Canada on those units. Lessons on the computerized machines are always helpful too. The 3160QDC is a nice machine and the needle plate has lots of good markings for seam allowances.

I bought the 3160 in Canada about two months ago. I paid $599 - that was apparently an intro offer when the machines were just released. The dealer said he expected to be listing the regular price at around $800. I'm in Ontario, if that makes any difference. Love my machine by the way - great price with great options!

digitalangelx, Be sure to join the Janome 6500/6600/7700 Janome 6500/6600/7700 Yahoo Group A great resource for owners of these machines.
I have the 6600 and while I would love a new 7700, it's not in the cards. I have been a very happy 6600 owner for nearly 4 yrs. You got a decent deal. Personally, even $1200 for a used 6600 is too high. Now, since dealers want to get people into the 7700, many are selling the 6500/6600 for low prices, 800-900 range.
