I am looking at picking up a Rocketeer, the person selling it is offering it to me with cabinet, stool, and accessories, for 50$.
Tell me, oh wisdom of the sewing pals, is this a good deal?

I think it's a good deal and a fair price, especially if you really want it.
I always like to get the accessories and manual and it comes with them.
I've seen them go for alot more, even on Craig's List.

My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10, and I've been sewing ever since.

It's a good price providing the following are OK/present:
1. The hinges on the top lid and side door. Are they intact or broken? If broken, it's hard to buy replacements.
2. Missing spool pins are common, especially the one that is removable so you can sew with the lid closed. This is not too big a deal, as replacements are available.
3. Does it have the power cords and foot pedal? Alot don't.
But overall, it's a good deal. I bought mine for $50 in that huge desk (I can't remember the number). It has drawers down both sides!
Keep us posted!!

I just bought one for $50 a couple of days ago! I have started to clean it (thanks, Donna!).
Mine came in a cabinet, which is in very poor repair. I got some sewing "bits" and vintage patterns with the deal. I thought the price was good, even with the cabinet in bad condition, because the machine is in great shape, and the accessory box is complete.
These machines are soooo cool!
Diane, now a vintage machine convert

Yeah, Diane!
I got her... the cabinet is a mess, but she's got most of the original accessories with her.
I'll toss some pics up once she's been worked on a bit.
the front tension is way too loose..but once I get that worked out, she's going to be next to perfect.
mmmm, needs a good name.
