Happy Canada Day to our wonderful neighbors (and just for you today, neighbours) to the north of us. Well, you are also to the west, south, and east of us.
Egads, we're surrounded!
Hope the Queen's trip is a memorable one.

I'll add my Happy Canada Day wishes also. I'm embarrassed to admit I didn't know exactly what it was until I saw GL's post and googled it. Shame on me for my worldly ignorance, but for those who celebrate it have a nice holiday! I've learned more about other countries on this board than I ever learned in school or on my own.
One of the many reasons I'm grateful for the internet, even with it's flaws.

Thanks! It is rainy here today, but it is a holiday, my first day of summer holidays and I have nothing to do but SEW!!!

We seriously need a fireworks emoticon.

The reason I am acquainted with Canada Day is that I am from Detroit and every year International Freedom Day (I think that's what it was called) was celebrated for both countries since the 1st and the 4th are so close together. Both countries put on a fabulous fireworks display in the Detroit River and there were also other celebrations of course. For those who don't know, Windsor is on the other side of the Detroit River. We used to look at the Seagram's facility there and wonder what they had on their coffee break.

I am nowhere near the Detroit River but I would love to see the fireworks display. Might put that on my list of things to see when I make my trek across Canada.

DH & I celebrated Canada Day by going on a hike -- we set out early but the day heated up pretty quickly.
By the time we got home it was 29 degrees Celsius (but 40 C with the Humidex) -- yucky. Totally drained me and I had to ice my foot and neck after which I needed a nap. More of the same is scheduled for tomorrow so other than a couple of early morning errands (fasting blood tests, pay house insurance and autopac), I will be in my air conditioned studio until the heat breaks. I've got lots of projects to work on.
Happy Canada Day everyone -- if it cools down a bit we can watch the fireworks from our back deck tonight.

This was many years ago, so I don't know if they are still doing the fireworks. The city is broke and so is the state.

No, I haven't and, sorry, I haven't heard of it, but I haven't lived there in many years.
