But I just discovered it today (Moderated by Deepika)

When pin marking an alteration (taking a seam in a bit) I found that if I wove the pins in and out as though I was sewing, I could then run my soap sliver over the pins and the places where fabric showed I got a lovely dotted line that showed me exactly where to sew! It is a nice, dark fabric so the soap showed up really well. Of course, I still missed the line and had to rip and resew, but it was not the fault of the marking system!

This is a great tip. There's a section to post tips and techniques. Check out the link on the sidebar. Sewing Tips & Techniques under Sewing Expo Reviews, under Sewing Class Reviews, etc. etc. etc. All under the Sewing Reviews category.
