I saw what looked like a very nice machine for sale on ebay
Dressmaker machine
I am not in the market, but I often read of someone looking for a good, sturdy, machine for $300 and under..........this might be it. I have to confess I know nothing about Dressmakers, but this machine looks great to me. and it is new. ETA: as always, I would ignore the "Industrial Strength" portion of the ad, most of know that any machine made for home use, no matter how strong, is not industrial.

VERY strange that the machine has been serviced , cleaned, and oiled.. lol since it says NEW. I have to wonder if the sellers read their ads.. or the buyers for that matter.. This is a new machine.. so strange it has the old cams..
Maybe another member can shed some light on just where this is made and how old the model is.. and so forth..

Looks like a neat machine-my finger is itching to pick it up and heaven knows I don't need another machine!
Do you notice-this machine is very, very similar in appearance to some of those generic Asian machines we see so often on the web, and related to the Sailmaker and some of those industrial machines advertised. Those, of course, use industrial needles but I assume this machine uses home needles. And, this one has that great set of cams to play with! If any of our members buy one of these I'd love to see a review!

Do you have to pull off the stitch width dial to see the decorative stitches displayed under it?

I would RUN away from any seller who claims to be a knowledgeable technician & yet describes a home sewing machine as industrial.
But that's just me.....

I agree. I'm also starting to wonder if those aren't the same pieces of leather that are in this seller's other offerings. Every machine is "industrial" and they all seem to be able to sew through six layers of plywood, cans, marble, kryptonite, etc. It's called a DressMaker not the SaddleMaker. Still, I'm sure it's a very good, Japanese machine. It's great looking and has lots of cams. 250 bucks ? No, thanks. Bert
Good point about the stitch width dial obscuring the dec. stitches.

I saw he had other machines for sale also. How do we know they are not sewn on a different machine. He doesn't show the machine when sewing the examples, just the needle bar and needle.

Did you notice that the seller has another one exactly like this for sale too? If it's vintage, I wonder how he got two identical ones. Maybe they were for classes? Also, the machine doesn't say it was made in Japan. The top part looks like plastic. It could be a newer machine made in Taiwan or China.

That's true. but it looks like Japanese eye-candy to me. However, I am only going with my gut instinct. Bert
