For what I need anbd what is available I need to add on about 6" to the largest size pieces of regularly available AIDA cloth. What would be the best way to make it less noticeable. I am trying to work it so it falls in under the cross stiching, but if its lapped and sewn its going to be a chore and lining it up row for row of thread is next to impossible. Any ideas of help appreciated.

I have never heard of joining Aida cloth. I don't see how you could do it without it unraveling or without there being a very visible bump in the work. Can't you find the width needed on the internet?

Yes, but the size that I would have to buy is big bucks, just to get the sizeout of it I needed. I have been experimenting, and find the cover stich 3 threqad with tight tension set, run along a row of AIDA is almost invisible and if you work at it, you can work that offset down to a slight relief that the fabric when pressed comes out pretty darn flatwithout a noticeable bump but it pays to try and get that seam where sa much of it gets covered up as possible in the design itself.

Lacking a coverstich machine, the blanket or seam binding stith that resembles _|_|_|_|_|_|_ if matched up sizewise with thread count is almost invisible and does not interfere wth inserting a needle with floss. Of course the solid line of stiching needs to be onthe raw edge.

I talked to a friend today about this and she said it will not work well if the item is to be framed due to the open nature of the fabric and how much it will be stretched.

So, its this a framed item you're making?

I'm agreeing with Sharon on this. I can't see how it can be done and appear smooth, especially if stretched and framed. If you find a way, please let us know and post a pic.

With 50% off coupons, I bought about 2 yards of Aida in various counts, just to prevent this sort of problem with large x-stitched items.

Good luck to you.
