Anyone going to the Expo in Minneapolis this coming week? Still need to find a room.
Another gal and I are going to Rochester to Ginny’s Fine Fabrics on Thursday then on to Minneapolis and Treadle Yard Goods. Will be at the Expo on Friday. I am so looking forward to this trip.

Wow - I didn't know about this or I would have dropped DH off at his hunting spot in MN and made the trek up to Minneapolis Maybe next year? Is this an annual expo?

I live in the area, so I might be going. Maybe I'll see you there.

FYI - just to make sure that you are aware that it's quite a drive from Rochester to Minneapolis? (several hours)

Thanks for the heads up Cathy, we know it will take a while to drive from Rochester to Minneapolis. We are leaving for Rochester on Wednesday afternoon, spending the night in Rochester so we will get to Ginnys as soon as she opens then start to Minneapolis in the afternoon. So Friday will be all day at the Expo. I haven't been to an Expo in years and am looking forward to seeing what the vendors have to offer. Already have my tickets for three classes.
Now all I have to do is make hotel reservations. I know the expo hotels are filled up so will have to hunt for something else not to far away........

I'm going. I'll be taking some classes on Thursday, staying overnight and taking classes on Friday. This will be my first Expo. I'm looking forward to it.

I recommend a trip to Treadle Yard Goods on Grand Avenue in St. Paul for a nice shopping experience. It's a small fabric and pattern shop just like the old days. They have a sale area in the back and the staff is wonderful.

I had hoped to go this year but it just wasn't in the cards. Am already making plans with another local PR member to possibly attend next year.

Can't wait to hear everyone's impressions of this year's expo. I went 3 years ago and absolutely loved it.

I'd look at the hotels near the airport. I think you'd still be 20-30 mins away from the expo (not sure of the exact time), but I would think they'd have rooms available.

Well, I just got home from the MN Sewing and Quilting Expo. It was fun. I bought only one thing - a machine oil pen that should be very precise, and less messy. Cost me $3.50.

I saw some exquisite quilts, lots of wonderful machines, lots of great fabrics, etc.

It was a somewhat smaller dealer area than I was expecting, though - the Duluth Quilt Show that I went to a few years ago was quite a bit bigger, to my surprise. Lots and Lots more quilts, and a much bigger dealer area.

However, I went to this show ALONE (ie, without my husband and daughter) and so I could spend as much time as I wanted, without worrying that Chris was freaking out about the crowds, or that my daughter was getting bored (and hence, badly behaved). It was completely selfish ME time, and I LOVED IT!!!!

Got back from the Expo yesterday. I had a great time.
The vendor area was a lot smaller. They are moving the show to a suburb next year where there will be free parking and cheaper hotel accommodations. I gathered from something the announcer said there had been complaints about the cost of rooms and parking. I can attest to both complaints.
Even with the limited number of vendors I managed to buy a number of items that were on my "want list' (no shipping cost is a wonderful thing).
I attended 4 classes on Friday; Peggy Segar (2), Lorraine Henry and Cynthia Guffey and enjoyed all of them. They all had a different take on garment sewing, but I came away with somehting form each of them.
The very best part for me was being around other women who love sewing as much as I do.

ps; could have done w/o the 3" of snow on Satuday. Driving out of the cities was not a fun thing. Snow covered the signs on the interstate and we more or less guessed what roads to take. Thank goodness we are good guessers.
