Looking for suggestions (Moderated by Deepika, EleanorSews)

I have several large cut-glass vases. They are nothing particularly special, but I would like to display them on a high window sill so that the sun will shine through them. I'm looking for suggestions on how to make them colorful. Something that the sun can reflect on or shine through. I will not fill them with water or use them for flowers.
Any and all suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

Do you remember those glass pebbles that were used either to arrange silk flowers or to arrange real ones with water added? They came in colors, too. I'm really not expressing myself well right now! Hopefully I can find some online and post a link. At any rate - I would consider filling the vases with various colors of those pebbles.

Thanks. I do remember those. As a matter of fact, I may have some. I like the beach glass also. That website seems to have good prices. Thanks for the suggestion. :)

Noticed the glass pebbles in W-mart a few days ago. They had several pretty colors.

If you have any colored, see-through christmas tree balls, they'd look really pretty, too. --Lily

I was thinking those marble-type things you put in the bottom of fish tanks...sounds similar to what Jatman recommended.

You have all been very helpful. I appreciate it considering that this is totally not sewing related. :)
Never thought about Christmas balls. Small ones would fit. I'll have to check out that option. Lots to think about. Thanks.

Little glass bottles or jars in different colours would look nice, too. Or various glass knick knacks. I have a variety of small things such as votive candle holders, small herbal remedy medicine bottles that would look nice displayed that way. You could toss in a few non-see through things like pretty candy tins, as well.
Great - now I have to go out and get big vases. They would look great in my front bay window!

Tourist suggested non see-through things - how about buttons?
I knew I could make this sewing related somehow!

Oooh, buttons! I can just see me pouring out vases of buttons looking for that perfect green button that I know must be in there. LOL
