Good Morning all and Happy Thanksgiving...I'm writing this morning to brag about my wonderful little $5.00, Dollar General Iron. I picked up two of them on Tuesday. Been using one for the last few days and it's wonderful. The plate is non-stick and glides like butter. The steam feature works very well too. The last iron I was using, the steam feature was a disaster. Not often you can get a decent item, for such a low price.

Dollar General makes irons? Or did you get it at Dollar General and it's a different brand? If it is, please let me know which one. I have a Dollar General near me, so I think I'll be there tomorrow. I have to pick up one for my classes, and this is just the ticket.

I've been using a cheepo iron too. Not from dollar general, I got it from Walmart last year, and it's held up so far. (erm.. I'll let y'all know if saying that makes it die..)
As I mentioned last night, I do wish for a mangle, though! (And one of these days-- after I've recovered from getting my transmission fixed-- I'll also have to get one of those nifty irons with the tiny head for pressing seams in spots that there's not enough room for a real iron.)

What you need is a doll iron. I have one--would you want it?

This was one of those three day sales, that went from Monday till Wednesday, of this week. I think these irons are usually $9.00(still not bad). It's in a white box with red trim and black lettering. Larger red band at the bottom of the box says "Continental Electric". Smaller red lettering at the top of the box says Steam & Spray Iron. It almost looks like a Rival iron that I had. The rival steam feature didn't work though and it would shoot water out of the steam holes when it was sitting up on its heel. Looked like it was peeing all over the place. Quite a mess. This little iron is peachy. I like lightweight irons and this one fits the bill. Also hold a lot more water than some I've used. I've had expensive irons, but price doesn't seem to keep stuff from sticking to the sole plates. Some of it never comes off. I would rather opt on tossing a "good" cheap iron, than a "good" expensive iron.

I got an Everstar iron at Home Depot for $7 a few days ago. I'd never heard of that brand, but the sales clerk told me that she's had one for a year with no problems. It has two levels of steam as well as a shot of steam feature, sprays, and is self-cleaning. A lot of iron for the price.

AK, was yours a three day deal at Home Depot or is that the everyday price. Seven dollars for an iron is fantastic. I went back to the Dollar General today to see if they, by chance, still had them on deal. They weren't. The sales lady said she had never seen them that low before. I told her what a great little iron it was. If I find a product that works, I'll go back where I bought it and let someone know. I think it helps, incase another customer inquires, the employee can say, "well this crazy lady bought two of them, came back a few days later and said they are great".

I've seen them advertised at that price a couple of times in the past month. I don't know if they always have irons or just get them now and then.

I bought one of those too, since it was cheap and we were there. I haven't had a chance to use it yet though (we were visiting my folks).
