I don't know what it is, but it is interesting. Almost looks industrial in that table, but could just be the table and not the machine.

I've seen that shape on old Kenmore machines but usually in a brown. Have always wondered how they sew? I think some old White machines also took on that shape?
Another Kenmore.

The ad says "Sears"... so I'm thinking it's a Kenmore.

It looks like a Kenmore rotary which is from the 40s-50s.I think they model 3 starts w/a 117. Check out the SewKenmoreVintage yahoo group- they will have pictures, As far as what to pay for one. Depends in what kind of shape its in. I would go as far as $30-$40. I have a Sears cabinet w/the knee ever and would pay $40 for that alone. Its big and very easy for use, thre machine pops up w/hydrolic lift.

Happy Co. of Japan made some of the earlier models for Sears, Montgomery Wards and other companies. This looks like the Sears Kenmore model 37. Relics has a manual for this machine I think, I just checked and they do show the machine.

I don't think this is a Happy Kenmore. I think I can see the knurled nut on the presser bar that indicates a top-clamping made-in-the-USA White Kenmore. The Japanese made models all have side attaching feet.

Jennifer you seem to really know your older machines. Yes, I think maybe Happy designed machines that were a bit newer. I don't know when Happy made Sears machines but I do know they made machines for Montgomery Wards in the late 1980's.
So many machines were badged and made in Japan and I think this might have been what did White in and caused them to fold from the history I have read.
I would have no idea just by looking at an older model as to who made it. I would have to know the date the machine was made then look up who made them at that time LOL.
In checking out the Relics site they show 2 different models pictured for a Kenmore 37 manual and this machine looks identical to one of those pictured and the other machine pictured is totally different.
I've learned that Domestic, Free, New Home, National, Davis even Singer then White made some of the much older Kenmores but I would have no clue as to which models and I would have to know the time frame the model was made and then I would even be guessing. It is my understanding that White joined with Pfaff to even make some of their machines.
I was thinking about this model looking sort of like a little tank and was wondering if this machine was one of the German designed White machines.
